Gillian Hicks is one of only two female firefighters in the District of North Vancouver, where she has worked for 17 years. She is a pool officer, teaches Emergency Vehicle Operation and Resilient Minds, heads the Social Benefit Committee, is on the Recruitment Committee and is the lead of the CIS team.
Prior to becoming a firefighter, her interests were heavily focused in the physical health and fitness field. Gillian has a degree in Human Kinetics from UBC. Amongst a number of sporting activities she excelled in soccer, playing for UBC and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Her main focus as an adjunct to her career and family life is on mental health, which is so vital to both young and old.
